Our primary mission at Meadowlark Gardens is to preserve our extensive gardens and the surrounding rural estate through onsite enterprises that sustainably capitalize on our natural assets all while enriching the ecology of the land. The property spans over 400 acres with some 15 acres of ornamental gardens that have been developed over the last 75 years. The Gardens contain many unique landscape vignettes suitable for the most memorable events and photography. However, balancing the garden’s financial needs with its preservation is a delicate one, and, therefore, we can only allow a limited number of private events and guests each year.

Weddings, Receptions and Large Events

Meadowlark Gardens is best known for its elegant weddings and receptions and excellent customer service. All Meadowlark events are exclusive. We host only one large event, typically a wedding, per week in order to minimize wear and tear on the grounds. We generally limit our capacity for each event to 180 guests except in very special circumstances. Clients and guests can enjoy the entire facility, barring private residences, of course. Events are allotted a 10 hour block of time which includes set-up and take-down. We are always happy to get to know and work with any licensed and insured vendors, but can also provide suggestions from our vendor partners from years past. Vendors not familiar with Meadowlark Gardens are strongly encouraged to schedule a pre-event tour with Meadowlark staff at no charge. While there are indoor areas, Meadowlark Gardens is mostly an outdoor facility. The Pool House contains a large, open central room with bathrooms on one end and a caterer’s kitchen on the opposite end. It opens onto a covered veranda and a very large, deep blue pool. Across the pool, accent lighting illuminates the 1400 square foot hardwood deck built around an enormous water oak. Gardens extend through gates and passages in every direction. Hidden from view, the Bridal Cottage is a nearby sanctuary for relaxing and taking care of last minute details. Meadowlark is a truly unique venue. Its age and maturity mark it as place of historical and visual distinction that we believe is vanishing from our countryside. Showers, Lunches and Smaller Events

Over the years, we have increasingly been encouraged to share the Gardens with smaller groups, too. These events typically involve 35, or less, guests and span less than 5 hours. They have included garden clubs, master gardeners, corporate board members, photography clubs and many, many others who just want to enjoy the company of others in an extraordinarily beautiful, private setting. For these fortunate few we offer everything from guided tours and presentations to simple scaled-down versions of one of our larger events. Whether you want to take a walk through our history with a heavily illustrated presentation, or have an intimate bridal shower by the pool, we can accommodate you. We’d love to discuss your small event plans with you, but please understand that, when you call, we might just be out in the gardens.

Years ago, only a handful of people, mostly friends of the Ingram family, knew about Meadowlark Gardens and would on occasion very respectfully inquire about having family pictures taken here. As more people became aware of this hidden treasure on the north side of the holly hedge, however, things got out of hand. Now days, true to our mission, we must regulate the photography sessions to preserve the grounds.
